The Difference Between WDZ and WDZN Cables
WDZN Cable
1. The main difference between WDZ and WDZN cables is that WDZN fire-resistant cables feature a conductor wrapped in an extra layer of mica tape. This enables the cable to maintain normal power transmission for a certain period during a fire.
2. The primary characteristic of WDZ flame-retardant cables is that they are not easily ignited, or if they do catch fire, the flame spread is strictly limited to a specific range. They are ideal for densely cabled environments such as power stations, subways, tunnels, high-rise buildings, large industrial and mining enterprises, oil fields, and coal mines.
3. The main feature of WDZN fire-resistant cables is that, in addition to transmitting power under normal operating conditions, they can continue to function normally for a specified duration during a fire. They are specifically designed for locations where fire safety and life-saving operations are critical, such as nuclear power plants, subways, tunnels, and high-rise buildings.
4. Flame-retardant and fire-resistant cables operate on different principles: The flame-retardant effect of halogen-containing cables relies on the properties of halogens, while halogen-free cables achieve this by releasing water vapor to lower the temperature and extinguish the flames. In contrast, fire-resistant cables rely on the fire and heat resistance of the mica material in their refractory layer to ensure normal operation during a fire.
